Contra Dance
Contra dance originated in the American northeast. Danced in long lines with your partner and another couple in a group of four, its moves are similar to those in square dancing. Robyn Lauster, a member of the Bozeman Folklore Society, will act as the caller for this workshop, teaching the dance and cueing the moves while the music plays. You need not come with a partner. Wearing shoes that slide a bit will help make the moves easier. Beginners welcome; if you can listen and walk at the same time, you can probably dance Contra! Children are welcome if they are able to follow directions and dance with adults they don’t know.
